21st century’s metropoles are full of creative, digital natives, urban nomads, entrepreneurs and start-ups. They produce not only with their heads but also with their hands and work mostly project-based.
Innovation needs a place where it can be tested and an inspiring environment where it can flourish. It can develop in the backyard or in a laboratory but the missing intersection point between people, ideas and tools that belong together is still missing. So we were wondering?
Shouldn’t every smart city provide their citizens with fully interconnected and equipped project spaces where they can prototype, test, research, train skills and network?
And how will this influence the design of workspace infrastructures, communication patterns and leadership concepts of traditional companies?
We looked at different working environments (FabLabs, Coworking Spaces, City Labs tec) and compare the international approaches in order to deliver a viable concept for a real ‘working space of the future’ planned to be realized in Berlin within the next years.
